If so, then take a step towards a future with Frimley Health. We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to come and join our team. We are seeking an energetic, compassionate, highly motivated and experienced NMC Registered Nurse (RGN) who has experience of leading teams and working within healthcare settings. You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be resilient, creative, innovative, and flexible. You will be able to use your own initiative, work as part of the multidisciplinary team but also can work autonomously when required. You will need to be committed, focused, organised and adaptable to the changing needs of the service and the wider organisation. The successful applicant will need to be an inspirational leader who can nurture, motivate, and develop a team and also have a passion to deliver excellence in all aspects of nursing care. You will have high standards and be able to demonstrate excellent patient care, clinical and managerial skills. You will have previous experience in a Band 5 or Band 6 role.
Main duties of the job
To be the lead nurse responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care within the team.
To refer and accept referrals from other disciplines without supervision, utilising the electronic EPR system - EPIC.
To develop standards of patient care based on sound research findings.
To undertake the audit and evaluation of nursing care within the unit.
To direct standards in the promotion of health.
Demonstrate a sound knowledge of infection control standards and promote these within ward environment.
Provide legible and comprehensive patient records to agreed Trust and NMC standards and guidelines.
To deal with, in conjunction with the Ward Manager/Matron, untoward incidents, complaints and team/staff issues. Actioning plans to prevent reoccurrence.
To act in accordance with trust policies and nursing procedures.
To maintain own personal profile.
Liaise with Discharge Facilitators regarding complex discharges.
Practice extended clinical roles eg venepuncture, cannulation, IV additives and male catheterisation.
Ensure all nursing team aware restraints of the nursing standing orders (nurse prescribing).
To support and provide leadership to all team members when dealing with complex, difficult and traumatic situations.
To ensure discharge communication is effective and patient flow is actively managed.
To ensure discharge communication is fluent with all parties involved – patient, family, the MDT and discharge team.
