Finance Manager - Plymouth - To: £45,000
Trial Balance Consulting is pleased to present an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager at a rapidly growing consumer services business in Plymouth. This modern company is a sector leader, supported by an experienced senior management team including a recently appointed CFO.
As the business expands quickly, the CFO is assembling a team of accounting professionals to build a streamlined finance department capable of handling increased turnover. The Finance Manager will play a key role in developing this function.
Working closely with the CFO and Head of Finance, the Finance Manager will oversee a team of four transactional staff. The primary responsibilities include:
1. Managing, supporting, and developing the finance team, with a focus on staff retention.
2. Implementing improvements to future-proof the finance function.
3. Producing management accounts with commentary.
4. Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
5. Analyzing sales and performance against business plans.
6. Forecasting cash flow.
7. Managing VAT reporting.
8. Acting as the primary contact with auditors.
9. Supporting the CFO and Head of Finance on major accounting projects.
Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or possess significant vocational experience. They should be a people-oriented professional, leading by example and committed to staff development. The senior management team values broad-minded, motivated individuals with a genuine desire to grow within the company.
