3 months contract with local authority We are seeking an Income Management Officer to provide comprehensive income management functions for the Council's housing objectives. The ideal candidate will contribute to a multi-functional team of housing staff to deliver a seamless, qualitative, and customer-focused service. The role involves ensuring customer care is maintained to agreed standards and contributing to the delivery of comprehensive housing services in line with the Council's policies and procedures. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Provide income management service for all tenants of the Council's properties. Offer advice, assistance, and information to tenants and the general public through various channels with a focus on customer care. Liaise with senior officers and other relevant personnel to ensure appropriate guidance and information is provided in the delivery of housing services. Support new tenants to prioritize rent payments and work with all tenants to reduce rent arrears through early intervention and effective communication. Collaborate with internal departments and external organizations to sustain tenancies through a multi-agency approach and individual support packages. Advise tenants on appropriate payment methods and encourage the take-up of Direct Debit Mandates. Complete income and expenditure exercises with customers to ensure they receive all eligible benefits and offer assistance on budgeting. Review introductory tenancies in respect of rent accounts and take appropriate action to secure the debt owing. Investigate, report, and act upon breaches of tenancy conditions in relation to rent arrears using all appropriate methods including Court action. Monitor rent accounts in accordance with policies and procedures and take appropriate action to secure the debt owing. Prepare rent arrears cases for final review by senior officers and prepare cases for instructing legal action. Provide advice and guidance to Tenancy Support Officers in relation to specific arrears and income maximization cases. Promote tenant participation wherever possible and establish and maintain productive links within the service. Organize case conferences and attendance of all relevant agencies in appropriate cases to achieve a positive outcome for tenants. Ensure all work is recorded on the housing management systems and prepare cases notes and reports as required for senior officers. Prepare reports on statistical data for monitoring the service and recommend improvements. Other Duties and Responsibilities Participate in working groups to contribute to the development of the team, the service, and policies & procedures. Play an active part in ensuring tenants are kept well informed of activities and issues affecting them. Attend Court when necessary to give evidence on behalf of the Council.
