The Engineering Maintenance Manager will lead the engineering team to deliver an effective maintenance strategy within the production facility at our flagship Dunmanbridge Site.
Reporting to the Site Engineering Manager your remit will include engaging with the Engineering Team across a 24/7 shift pattern to identify development opportunities and ensure that engineering resources are utilised to their optimum capability.
You will have responsibility and accountability for managing all maintenance work in Production areas and all associated ancillaries eg CIP systems. Your responsibilities include budget ownership/ reporting, working in conjunction with the site team across departments, OEM’s and service providers to deliver substantial planned work during plant shut-downs and ensure optimisation of the manufacturing performance of the equipment on site
The Role
* Develop and deliver the Planned Maintenance Strategy (utilising both internal resource and external contractors) including identifying root causes and implementing robust countermeasures to minimise unplanned downtime.
* Assume overall responsibility for day-to-day management of the team. This will include management of holidays, employee relations, performance management, absence management, training and development and setting a professional standard for the engineering team in conduct, behaviours, and quality of work expected.
* Responsible for ensuring the quality of work carried out is maintained at the highest possible standard and compliant with site quality requirements.
* Development and management of team skills and training requirements and ensure effective delivery.
* Manage spend to defined budget targets whilst ensuring spare part usage is fully understood and optimised.
* Co-ordinating daily maintenance priorities
* Attend daily production meetings to provide maintenance plan updates and dealing with current issues.
* Weekly reporting on team KPIs identifying and addressing key issues.
* Work closely with the operations team to improve process efficiencies and optimise equipment to minimise product and effluent waste.
* Using technical engineering ability and initiative to assist with site challenges and general maintenance of the site.
* Ensure that all planned maintenance records and relevant documents control are accurate and up to date.
* Accountable for plant and equipment compliance for Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Environmental legislation and policies (e.g. Contractor management, permit issuing), ensuring areas are audit ready.
* Engineering degree or similar relevant qualification with a minimum of 4 years industrial experience OR time served electrical/mechanical apprenticeship, ideally multiskilled plus minimum of 5 years’ recent relevant industrial experience.
* Proven experience in leading a large engineering team over various shift patterns in a fast paced manufacturing environment
* High level of computer literacy to include Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Pirana CCMS systems
* Experience of interrogating and analysing production/engineering SCADA systems
* Highly organised with the ability to manage work streams with conflicting priorities
* Excellent written and oral communications skills, possess tact and the ability to negotiate maintenance needs in balance with other departmental requirements and to support the team.
* Excellent people management and development skills, with a positive, can-do attitude coupled with strong interpersonal and leadership skills
* Strong analytical, prioritisation and decision-making skills
* Experience working in a similar role
* Knowledge of plant and equipment compliance for Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Environmental legislation and policies
* Experience of working within FMCG industry
