Overview
The Grounds Maintenance Worker plays a crucial role in maintaining the aesthetic and functional quality of outdoor spaces. This position involves a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring landscapes are well-kept, safe, and visually appealing. The ideal candidate will learn a blend of horticultural knowledge and practical skills to contribute effectively to our grounds maintenance team.
With over 150 sites across Devon, Cornwall & Somerset you will be visiting multiple sites each day; travelling up to one hour from North Tawton.
Duties
* Perform landscape maintenance including mowing, trimming, and edging lawns.
* Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently for various gardening tasks.
* Conduct regular inspections of grounds to identify maintenance needs and potential hazards.
* Utilise mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on equipment as needed.
* Engage in gardening activities such as planting, pruning, and fertilising plants to promote healthy growth.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of tools and equipment after use.
Skills
* Proficient in landscape maintenance techniques with a strong understanding of horticulture principles.
* Mechanical knowledge for operating and maintaining various landscaping equipment.
* Experience using hand tools, power tools, and excavators effectively in outdoor settings.
* Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work in all tasks undertaken.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating good communication skills.
* Physical stamina to perform manual labour in varying weather conditions while adhering to safety standards. This role is essential for enhancing the beauty and functionality of outdoor environments, making it an exciting opportunity for those passionate about grounds maintenance and horticulture.
The candidate will be offered a 6month contract, with the option to extend this contract based on performance.
This salary is based on a three day working week through January & February.
