Overview
As a Preventative Maintenance Engineer, you will work in conjunction with the controller to maximise the operational availability of equipment for the customer through timely and efficient routine and preventative maintenance servicing and machine inspections. You will identify possible issues which may impact availability and may be tasked with carrying out minor repairs. You will be an ambassador for safety, servicing products in a manner that promotes safety for self and customer.

Major Job Functions
* Preventative Maintenance Servicing: routine servicing of equipment in line with manufacturers' guidelines, including taking routine oil samples (approx. 75%)
* Machine Inspection: visual and mechanical analysis of machine condition, highlighting developing issues (approx. 20%)
* Minor Repairs: complete minor repairs identified during inspection, install telematics systems, and perform undercarriage inspections (approx. 5%)

Specific Skills
The job requires a basic knowledge of the four main product elements (Engines, Hydraulics, Powertrain, and Vehicle Electrics/Electronics) relating to servicing and repair of heavy mobile plant (or similar, e.g. Heavy Goods Vehicle).
Accountability
To attend customer locations as advised by the controller, carry out preventive maintenance servicing, liaise with service controller and customer, ensure work is completed to high standards and equipment is safe before handing back to customer, ensure servicing aligns with manufacturers’ recommendations, and complete related paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. Take proper care of company vehicle and equipment.
Education and Experience
Either direct experience (around 3 years) or experience in a related engineering function (e.g., car mechanic, HGV fitter, Agricultural Engineer, REME or military vehicle experience), or a formal apprenticeship qualification that includes at least C&G level 1. Training in health and safety is desirable but not essential; further training will be provided.
This position offers opportunities for engineers with transferable skills to enter the plant industry. Training will be provided, and there are opportunities to progress to field service roles with further development.
