Service Manager – Cumbria + £40,-£50,
The Role:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-focused Service Manager to oversee a team of workshop and field service engineers. This is a pivotal role within the business, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of scheduled and emergency repair works, overhauls, refurbishments, and major projects. The position combines leadership, customer service, and technical understanding to drive service standards forward.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support workshop and field engineers in their day-to-day activities.
- Oversee accurate reporting, data collection, and feedback from all works carried out.
- Handle cost control, forecasting, warranty claims, and scheduling.
- Ensure efficiency and resource optimisation while maintaining high quality standards.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to deliver exceptional service.
- Liaise with senior management to support service strategy and growth.
- Engage in product training across premium machinery brands, with travel as required.
The Candidate:
- Previous experience in agricultural, forestry, construction plant, or commercial vehicle engineering.
- Understanding of seasonal pressures and customer challenges in these industries.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, components, CAN-BUS networks, and control systems.
- Proven supervisory or leadership experience, ideally progressing from a hands-on engineering role.
- Highly organised, disciplined, and detail-driven with strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
Desirable:
- Prior management or supervisory experience in service teams.
- Commercial awareness in cost control, forecasting, and warranty processes.
- Ability to perform consistently under seasonal workload demands.
