About The Role
In your role as an Assistant Chef at HC-One, you’ll value one thing above all: kindness. It carries across every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist Care homes. Every person who works here understands that our Residents are people just like them with their own stories to tell. Joining HC-One offers a wonderful opportunity to give back to these individuals.
As an Assistant Chef, your responsibilities will include cooking and serving nutritious, healthy meals that Residents will love. You will support the First Chef, taking charge in their absence. Your duties may also involve managing food stock, optimizing your budget, coaching colleagues, or supervising kitchen clean-up—all with Resident wellbeing as your top priority.
HC-One is looking for an Assistant Chef with at least a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and a good understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP). Beyond qualifications, we value your positive energy and ability to get along with people. You should be organized, able to meet deadlines, present food attractively, and follow recipes carefully. Communication with Residents and colleagues should be considerate and kind.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. You must be able to recognize signs of abuse, harm, or neglect and know how to act on concerns. All staff are required to attend safeguarding training relevant to their role and undertake additional training as needed. You should also be able to seek advice and report concerns, escalating issues when necessary.
