Job Objectives:
The primary objective is to oversee contractors and develop purchasing strategies for construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in purchasing for large industrial projects and be proficient in project management tools.
Responsibilities:
* Contractor oversight
* Equipment purchasing strategy development
* Bulk purchasing strategy development and approval
* Purchase and material management plan drafting
* Stress testing of contractor purchasing strategies against industry best practices
* Agreement implementation to consolidate suppliers and spend
Logistics:
* Delivery planning for all items, especially long-lead and critical path items
* Freight forwarder coordination for export/import/transient documents/permits
* Cost estimation and control regarding freight
* Item delivery organization not handled by the contractor
* Delivery monitoring and reporting to prevent critical delays
* Strategic sourcing support/lead
* Vendor expedite for delayed drawing or equipment delivery
* 'Lean' initiative and sourcing efficiency identification
* Purchase order negotiation, evaluation, and issuance
Education and Experience:
* Master's degree in Engineering
* Graduate studies in project management business valued
* 3-5 years of experience in purchasing areas of MEP, Construction or Facilities space for large industrial construction projects
* Additional experience in project controls or construction management preferred
