The Opportunity
This is a unique and career-defining opportunity for an ambitious and experienced Wills, Trusts, and Estates lawyer to take a pivotal leadership role within our firm.
The successful candidate will not just manage a caseload but will be empowered to head up and strategically grow our Private Client department. Building on a strong foundation of internal referrals from our conveyancing team, this individual will have the autonomy to shape the department's future, develop its market presence, and drive its commercial success. This is an ideal role for a commercially-minded solicitor looking to make a significant impact and advance into a senior leadership position.
Key Responsibilities
Managing a varied caseload of Private Client matters, including Will drafting, Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), Trust creation and administration, and Estate Administration (Probate).
Leading, managing, and taking full responsibility for the growth and performance of the Wills, Trusts & Estates department.
Developing and implementing a robust business development strategy to expand the department's client base.
Proactively building and maintaining a network of external contacts and referrers.
Working closely and collaboratively with our conveyancing department to maximise internal referral opportunities and provide a seamless service to existing firm clients.
Ensuring the highest standards of client care and compliance are maintained across the department.
Supervising and mentoring junior staff as the department expands.
The Ideal Candidate Profile
We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications, experience, and attributes:
Qualification:
Qualified Solicitor or CLC Probate Practioner. STEP preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years PQE with a proven track record in all aspects of Wills, Trusts, and Estates law.
Commercial Acumen:
A commercially astute lawyer with demonstrable experience in, or a strong aptitude for, business development, networking, and departmental growth.
Leadership Potential:
Natural leadership qualities with the ambition and drive to build and manage a successful team.
Interpersonal Skills:
Exceptional communication and client management skills, with the ability to build rapport with both clients and colleagues.
Autonomy:
A self-starter who is highly organised, proactive, and capable of working independently to drive initiatives forward.
