SEN / SEMH Trainee Teaching Assistant – Bristol & Bath

About the Role
As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you’ll gain valuable, hands-on experience supporting children and young people aged 4–19 across a range of specialist and inclusive schools in the Bristol and Bath region.
You’ll work with pupils who have a variety of needs, including:
1. Autism (ASC)
2. ADHD
3. Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH)
4. Challenging Behaviour
5. Learning Difficulties
6. Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
This is an agency-based role, offering a mix of short-term, long-term, and ad-hoc placements depending on school needs. While work cannot be guaranteed, successful trainees will receive paid placements and ongoing mentoring to help them develop and progress.
Following a successful interview, safeguarding checks, and completion of your introductory training, you’ll begin a paid school placement to put your learning into practice. After five days of successful work and a positive reference, you can progress into a SEN Teaching Assistant role.

✅ Requirements
To be considered, you will:
11. Have a passion for supporting children and young people.
12. Be eager to complete your training and ongoing CPD.
13. Be patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic about learning new skills.
14. Be willing to pay for an Enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service.
Experience in education, childcare, or care work is desirable but not essential - full training and guidance are provided.

Salary: £13.68 per hour (PAYE, dependent on experience and training)
