Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Therapeutic Radiographer to join a busy Oncology and Radiotherapy Unit within an acute hospital setting in the South West of England. This is a long-term locum role offering consistent shifts and the opportunity to work within a well-established, supportive radiotherapy service.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate radiotherapy treatment to oncology patients.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality radiotherapy treatment in line with local and national protocols.
* Operate radiotherapy equipment safely and effectively, ensuring accurate treatment delivery.
* Provide excellent patient-centred care, supporting patients throughout their treatment journey.
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary oncology team, including oncologists, physicists, nurses, and support staff.
* Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards.
* Contribute to service efficiency, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement.
* Support junior staff and students where appropriate.
* Adhere to all radiation protection, health and safety, and clinical governance requirements.
Person Specification
Essential
* Degree in Therapeutic Radiography (or equivalent).
* HCPC registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer.
* Experience working within a radiotherapy / oncology setting.
* Sound knowledge of radiotherapy treatment delivery and patient care pathways.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to high standards of clinical practice and patient safety.
Desirable
* Experience working in a busy acute oncology service.
* Familiarity with modern radiotherapy systems and treatment techniques.
* Experience mentoring students or junior colleagues.
