About The Role
Following the development of our curriculum, facilities, and resources, Mercury College is seeking to appoint a new Deputy Head of Education.
You will support the college's aims and objectives and lead safeguarding efforts for students. The role focuses on helping young adults aged 18 to 25 with learning disabilities, autism, and complex care needs to develop independence through learning in educational and community settings that are warm, secure, and consistent.
You will provide motivational leadership, foster positive relationships across our group, and ensure high standards of professional performance, teaching quality, and staff development.
Please note: This is a term-time-only role. Any annual leave must be taken during the 12-week college holiday period.
About You
We seek an experienced leader passionate about improving the lives of young people with autism and learning disabilities. You should be a qualified teacher willing to be hands-on and to lead and support colleagues while managing daily operations and strategic initiatives.
You should have experience at a similar level within a specialist provider or further education college, with the ability to communicate our vision and inspire others. A strong alignment with our values—kindness, compassion, and empathy—is essential, as is understanding the behaviors required to deliver high-quality, person-centered services in a specialist education setting.
*Please note that due to current workforce planning, we are prioritizing applications from candidates with indefinite leave to remain or settled status in the UK. However, we welcome applications from all candidates regardless of sponsorship or settled status.*
