Nurses - Discover a new kind of career in healthcare as a Functional Assessor
Are you working in healthcare and looking for a change? If you’re a nurse (RGN, RMN, or RNLD), occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or paramedic, you could use your skills differently as a Functional Assessor.
Our client provides unbiased, comprehensive assessments for claimants of the Government’s disability allowance (Personal Independence Payment), conducted over the phone, via video call, or in person at assessment centres or claimants’ homes. We seek individuals with compassion and experience to understand claimants’ health conditions and disabilities and how they impact their lives. Candidates should balance this with strong computer skills, impartiality, and effective time management.
Day to Day
You will conduct initial reviews, including paper-based, face-to-face, video, or telephone assessments, to evaluate how a claimant’s health condition or disability affects their daily life.
Our client's hybrid model allows you to work from home and be assigned to assessment centres on a rota basis for face-to-face assessments. You will also spend time in centres or offices for team meetings and training sessions.
You will observe and report on individuals’ ability to perform activities, analyze clinical information, and support evidence. You will produce three detailed reports daily, each between 3,000-4,000 words, providing evidence and justification to support decisions made by the DWP.
Our Offer
This challenging role differs from other healthcare professions; hence, our client emphasizes training and development. You will undergo a 6-week training program (Monday to Friday, 9 am-5 pm) with time allocated for self-development.
The first six months may be demanding, but support and mentorship will be provided. Starting salary is £38,500 annually, plus a 5% retention bonus. Upon achieving remote-approved status, salary increases to £39,900 plus up to 10% bonus. After completing face-to-face assessments, salary rises to £41,500 plus up to 10% bonus.
This is a full-time, hybrid role.
Your requirements
* At least one year of post-registration experience as a nurse, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or paramedic
* Full registration with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC), without restrictions or conditions, and a valid PIN
* Excellent observational and communication skills, with the ability to listen, empathize, and probe deeper
* Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute
* Proficiency in IT and Microsoft Office, including remote access systems like MS Teams
