One of my key clients in the EV sector is recruiting for a Senior Magnetics Simulation Engineer. The company specialises in the development Convertors, Motors, Controllers, and other specialist equipment for a variety of industries. They offer hybrid WFH and offer engineers the opportunity to grow and develop within a leading business.
Senior Magnetics Simulation Engineer
Salary: Negotiable
Hybrid WFH: Varied
Location: Norfolk
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, 37 hours per week
Key Skills & Experience:
1. Have some level of practical experience and demonstrated accomplishments in the original design of traction motors used in automotive/off-road applications.
2. Have experience at original creation and / or review for revision of a Motor product DFMEA.
3. Ability to run magnetics simulations for complex motor topologies, being able to provide magnetic, thermal, and vibration characteristics and present information with commercial context.
4. Have experience in motor calculations/simulation including ANSYS Maxwell.
5. Have experience in using ANSYS for FEA calculations.
6. Experience creating documentation compliant with various UKCA and CE directives.
7. Knowledge of compliance with key international standards (Preferred) – Understanding and knowledge of simulation of higher frequency components such as inductors/transformers for magnetics in power electronics.
8. Understanding and knowledge of Q3D and HFSS to simulate EMC/EMI in power electronics desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Providing accurate reports on thermal analysis, magnetic analysis, and NVH analysis on motor topologies.
2. To author validation & verification plans and reports with supporting simulation and test plans & reports that can be used to certify the product.
3. Responsible for working in collaboration with the design and development engineers to ensure that products under development meet the requirements and specification.
4. Responsible for mathematical modeling and testing of products to validate and verify modeling and simulation results.
5. Plan and demonstrate correlation between models and real-life test results.
6. Responsible for organizing & planning their workloads and any direct reports.
7. To perform tests and document test results to validate electronic models & simulations in alignment with the standard procedures, H&S, and test lab rules.
8. To plan, perform and/or direct technicians to build and validate new or modified test equipment as required.
9. To create appropriate methods, work instructions, and Risk Assessment documentations.
10. Review standards associated with test procedures and align & adapt test methods accordingly.
