Shift Engineer Location: London - TW6 Rate: £500 per night Contract: Freelance, Outside IR35 Shifts: Night shifts, 7/4 On/Off Pattern The Client A well-regarded contractor delivering specialist packages on high-profile aviation infrastructure schemes. They are currently involved in a tunnel cladding project at one of Londons major airports and require experienced engineering support during night operations. The Role They are seeking a Shift Engineer to oversee the delivery of tunnel cladding works during night shifts. This position is well suited to a Site or Section Engineer with proven setting-out ability and experience in cladding or structural finishes within confined or transport infrastructure environments. The successful candidate will take responsibility for coordinating works on-site, managing subcontractors, and ensuring delivery in line with programme, quality, and safety requirements. Responsibilities: Setting out and overseeing tunnel cladding installation Monitoring night works and ensuring alignment with design drawings Coordinating subcontractors and site personnel Maintaining accurate site records and progress reports Enforcing health and safety protocols within a live operational environment Supporting quality inspections and handover processes Candidate Requirements: Experience as a Site Engineer or Section Engineer on structural or cladding projects Previous involvement in tunnel or confined-space works is desirable Strong setting-out capability and technical understanding CSCS card required SMSTS or SSSTS preferred Prior airport or transport infrastructure experience advantageous Must have the right to work in the UK This is an excellent opportunity for a driven freelance engineer seeking consistent night work on a technically challenging and prestigious package, with a competitive rate outside IR35.
