Finance Assistant

The Finance Assistant will support the Finance Team Leader with sales ledger and bad debts. The role also involves assisting in other areas of the finance department.


Location & Travel

Home based. The role is mainly remote; however, you will be expected to travel to the Central Finance Office in Stourbridge weekly and occasionally to other locations.


Duties & Responsibilities


Main Responsibilities:

* Processing sales invoice requests from business partner teams.
* Accurately coding sales invoices, including VAT under the partial exemption method.
* Producing and distributing sales invoices, both regular and ad hoc.
* Responding to invoice queries and escalating when necessary.
* Matching bank receipts to sales invoices to ensure customer account accuracy.
* Reviewing and posting unallocated amounts on customer accounts regularly.
* Collaborating with finance teams to manage debtors and ensure timely payments.
* Reconciling debtors monthly.
* Providing bad debt information to the Finance Team Leader.
* Supporting and covering purchase ledger duties.
* Posting journals as required.
* Providing financial data to the team and budget holders.
* Performing general accounts office duties.
* Undertaking other reasonable duties as assigned.


Person Specification

* AAT qualification, working towards AAT, or qualified by experience.
* Experience with accounting systems in a multi-company environment.
* Knowledge of VAT, especially partial exemption schemes.
* At least 2 years’ experience in accounts transaction processing, especially sales ledger.
* Experience in sales debt management.
* Experience with accounts processing and reconciliations to TB level.
* Understanding of internal controls and core accounting systems and processes.
