About iHus
iHus delivers high-quality timber-frame annexe projects across the UK. We pride ourselves on strong commercial discipline, efficient project delivery, and a positive, driven team culture. As the business continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated and commercially minded Project Engineer to support our Operations team and contribute to the successful delivery of our projects.
The Role
The Project Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the commercial and operational success of iHus’s timber-frame annexe projects. This is a fast-paced, detail-driven role suited to someone with strong analytical ability, sound commercial judgement, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Predominantly office-based, the role involves close collaboration with Project Managers, Purchasing, Design, and senior leadership. You will be responsible for producing accurate bills of materials and quantities, maintaining cost control, supporting project planning, and delivering clear operational and financial reporting. Your input will help ensure projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and to the high standards expected by iHus.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Engineer will be responsible for preparing, managing, and reviewing project material budgets, including BOMs and BOQs, while maintaining live cost trackers, forecasts, and financial records across multiple projects. The role involves monitoring material usage, labour costs, subcontractor spend, and variations, and identifying cost risks, opportunities, and variances, issuing early warnings where required.
You will provide commercial input into planning activities, value engineering, and programme reviews, while producing clear and concise cost and performance reports for senior management. Working closely with the Purchasing team, you will support procurement scheduling and timely ordering of materials, attend progress meetings, and contribute commercial insight and practical solutions. The role also includes supporting project and resource planning activities, championing accurate data management through iHus systems and digital tools, and driving continuous improvement by identifying trends, inefficiencies, and recurring issues across projects.
Essential Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of construction, ideally within timber-frame, modular, or residential environments, along with excellent numerical and analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail. Strong commercial judgement and cost control experience are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-moving environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project or financial tracking systems is required, alongside strong written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications and Requirements
You will hold an HND, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, or be able to demonstrate significant relevant industry experience. Previous experience working on construction projects is required, with timber-frame or modular experience preferred. A full, clean driving licence is essential.
Personal Attributes
You will be proactive, motivated, and solutions-focused, with a confident and positive approach and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. The role requires someone who is organised, disciplined, and proud of producing accurate, high-quality work, as well as being collaborative, approachable, and a strong team player. A genuine interest in continuous improvement and contributing to the wider success of the business is important.
What We Offer
iHus offers a key role within a growing and ambitious business, providing exposure to live projects and senior decision-making. You will be part of a supportive and driven team culture, with opportunities for both commercial and professional development.
This is a full-time, permanent position. Benefits include a company pension, free parking, and on-site parking. The role is based in person at our office
