ABC Teachers is recruiting a Student Support Practitioner to work exclusively 1:1 with secondary-aged students in a Specialist SEMH school. This role is ideal for someone used to high-pressure environments, complex behaviour, and building respect through consistency and credibility.
About the role
This is a hands-on, relational role focused on stability, boundaries, and progress.
* Acting as the primary daily support for one student with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
* Supporting emotional regulation, impulse control, and positive decision-making
* Managing and reducing incidents through early intervention and de-escalation
* Helping students re-engage with learning and routines at their own pace
* Monitoring behaviour patterns and feeding into personalised support plans
* Being a consistent, calm presence throughout the school day
There are no rotations, no split responsibilities — your focus is one young person.

Requirements
To be considered for the role of Student Support Practitioner - SEMH School you will:
* Proven experience working with young people or adults with SEMH or challenging behaviour
* Ability to commit to a full-time, 1:1 role
* Strong communication skills and emotional resilience
* Suitable references and willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
* Experience in Youth work or community outreach, Social work or family support, Mentoring, coaching, or tutoring, Knife crime, gang or violence prevention. Mental health or behavioural support, Sports coaching, disciplined team environments, or similar roles
