A well-established, fully remote ecological consultancy is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join their growing team. Operating across a wide geographic region, the team works on a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from small private developments to large-scale infrastructure and housing schemes.
Your new role
As a Senior Ecologist, you'll take on a leadership role within the consultancy, supporting both clients and junior team members. Key responsibilities include:
* Mentoring and managing junior ecologists
* Leading ecological surveys and assessments (e.g., UKHab, protected species, EcIA)
* Providing ecological advice across internal teams and to external clients
* Managing projects and producing technical reports and ecological management plans
* Liaising with stakeholders and regulatory bodies
* Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practice
What you'll need to succeed
* Minimum 5 years' experience in ecological consultancy
* At least one protected species licence
* Full membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM - desirable)
* Strong skills in habitat and protected species surveys (PEA, UKHab, BNG, bats, badger, water vole, etc.)
* Excellent communication and report-writing skills
* Experience preparing fee proposals and risk assessments
* Ability to manage and analyse ecological data
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
