Business Development Manager - Specification Sales – Incredible opportunity to grow a division from £600k to £5m over the next 3 years. Elite product range in high-end decorative lighting. Hybrid/Remote/Some office – Teams/Zoom, with strong collaboration under a high energy Sales Director.
Route to market experience is essential (not product). You should be a super sales and relationship builder with experience selling to designers, architects and through the project journey, particularly into care homes, hospitality and leisure sectors.
Salary: £52,000 - £62,000 (DOE) plus car and superb commission and bonus structure. A genuine long-term career role with progression and potential for salary growth. Great benefits, all expenses paid.
Manage ~£1.2m of revenue and grow the specification division. Work with the Sales Director with full support and lots of autonomy. UK manufacturing and supply chain – an understanding of lead times is key to this sales role. Build relationships and sell a product range, working with key stakeholders to increase sales and promote the brand.
You must have specification sales experience and have sold into hospitality and leisure. This is an established UK-based manufacturer and distributor trading UK-wide and globally. This is a new Specification Sales role created to grow the account base and revenue across the leisure & hospitality sectors. Experience and contacts in the industry are desirable, along with a good understanding of lead times. We need someone proactive, driven, commercially aware who can present to architects, lighting specifiers, designers and hospitality groups, build relationships with key stakeholders, and drive sales.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of sales excellence within specification sales into the hospitality market or similar, to utilise your knowledge, contacts and experience to grow market share. You will be provided with exceptional product innovation and quality, market-leading stock availability and back-up support to bring a high level of success to the business and to you.
The Role
* Prospect high-potential new corporate customers and grow new revenue, scheduling meetings and presentations to make this business the preferred choice.
* Responsible for the sales of bespoke products, liaising with internal cross-functional teams to plan and share upcoming project demands.
* Create and maintain an active pipeline of projects and opportunities, engaging directly with key influencers and decision makers with the goal of increasing sales.
* Develop high levels of product knowledge to answer customer questions and provide technical advice as required.
* Submit information into the CRM system with project logs, call planning, key visit notes and quotations.
* Monitor and analyse sales performance, determining and implementing strategies to meet changing market conditions.
* Collaborate with the sales team and senior management to meet or exceed sales targets and contribute to the overall success of the business.
* Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to remain at the forefront of the UK lighting market.
* Attend trade shows and other industry events to capitalise on networking and relationship-building opportunities.
* Provide regular updates to line manager and senior management team.

* Experience selling directly into the hospitality industry with a strong industry network and solid knowledge of market conditions.
* Excellent negotiation, influencing and account management skills.
* Experience working in a target-driven sales role with unwavering drive to achieve.
* Ability to build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships, ensuring repeat business and generating new leads.
* Strong organisational and communication skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
* Proficiency in CRM software is desirable.
* Hold a Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel and stay away as required.
