About Us
We are a busy, well-established Tyre & MOT Centre based in Southampton, delivering high-quality vehicle repairs, MOT testing (Class 4 & 7), diagnostics and tyre services. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and driven Garage Manager to lead our workshop and front-of-house operations.
Role Overview
The Garage Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the centre, ensuring smooth operations, strong sales performance, excellent customer service, and full workshop productivity.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone from a tyre, fast-fit, or MOT background who understands both technical workshop processes and commercial performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Management
Oversee daily workshop operations (MOT, servicing, repairs, tyres)
Ensure maximum ramp productivity and efficient job allocation
Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control
Ensure compliance with DVSA MOT regulations and health & safety
Staff Management
Lead, motivate and manage technicians, MOT testers and front desk staff
Monitor performance and productivity
Conduct training and development where required
Manage rotas and staff attendance
Sales & Customer Service
Drive sales of tyres, servicing, repairs and upselling opportunities
Convert enquiries into bookings
Manage customer complaints professionally
Maintain high customer satisfaction and positive reviews
Booking & Administration
Oversee booking system and diary management
Manage invoicing and job costing
Monitor KPIs and weekly/monthly performance reports
Inventory & Stock Control
Manage tyre stock and parts inventory
Control ordering and supplier relationships
Monitor margins and reduce waste
Requirements
Proven experience managing a tyre, fast-fit or MOT garage
Strong knowledge of MOT regulations and vehicle repair processes
Experience in tyre industry (ordering, pricing, fitting workflow)
Strong leadership and team management skills
Sales-driven mindset with ability to increase revenue
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Full UK driving licence
Desirable
MOT Tester qualification
Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance qualification
Experience using garage management systems
Experience managing high-volume workshop environments
