and main responsibilities
The cardiographer role comprises of the accurate acquisition of 12-lead electrocardiograms (ECGs) as well as the preparation and running of ambulatory monitor clinics in the main outpatients department.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience in a healthcare environment, be passionate about improving patient care and will have an interest in Cardiology. Previous experience in performing ECGs and fitting ambulatory monitors is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Very good written and verbal communication skills (at least three GCSEs at C level or above, including English, or equivalent).
2. Basic Life Support (BLS)
Desirable criteria
3. Previous competency/qualification in performing 12-Lead ECGs (e.g. SCST Award in Practical Electrocardiography / in-house competency certificate from previous employment).
4. Previous experince in carrying out ECGs and ambulatory monitors
Experience
Essential criteria
5. >6 months previous experience of working as a Cardiographer performing ECG’s and fitting ambulatory monitors.
Desirable criteria
6. Experience in demonstrating tasks and assist in the training of new / junior members of staff / students / nurses or medical staff across the trust.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
7. Knowledge of significant ECG abnormalities
8. Able to identify and escalate the acutely unwell / deteriorating patient according to local protocol

9. Ability to work as part of a team with demonstrable experience
10. Ability to form good working relationships across different roles/disciplines/departments.
11. Ability to deal with occasionally emotionally challenging situations such as distressed, upset or seriously ill patients.
