Assistant Team Manager – Wrexham Children Services (Leaving Care Team)
Full time, 37 hours per week. Social Work qualification must be held.
About the Role
We are seeking an individual who is committed to achieving change for children and young people and who can support our continuous improvement journey towards best practice.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Leaving Care Team, including supervising qualified and unqualified workers.
* Maintain the highest professional standards through regular formal and informal supervision of staff.
* Act as a mentor for colleagues and lead the induction of new staff.
* Lead and develop areas of work within the team.
* Stay up to date with relevant legislation, law, and best practice.
* Provide expert decision‑making and management oversight on referrals received by the team.
* Support the manager to develop a high‑performing team and support staff to achieve optimal outcomes for children and young people.
* Chair meetings, manage complex cases and provide advanced communication skills.
* Work with care‑experienced children and young people aged 15‑25 to plan effective transition and support confidence, life skills, and accommodation needs.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Experienced front‑line children's social worker.
* Social Work qualification held.
* Enhanced DBS check and Social Care Wales registration required.
* Strong communication, decision‑making, and leadership skills.
* Experience in chairing meetings and managing complex cases.
