Job overview
We are looking for a highly motivated anaesthetist with an interest in Simulation and Medical Education to join our team at St. Richard’s Hospital. The post will begin in August 2026 and is a 12‑month fellowship. You will work closely with the Simulation team and Clinical Skills team, providing regular simulation sessions for foundation doctors, medical students, and multidisciplinary teams.
Main duties of the job
* Pre, peri and post‑operative management of surgical patients.
* Assisting with care of patients in ICU and responding to resuscitation calls.
* Participating in on‑call rotas (Theatre, Obstetrics and ITU) as part of a 3‑tier coverage system.
* Maintaining logbooks and electronic records of learning experiences, including multi‑source feedback.
* Engaging in educational development, quality improvement projects, research and clinical governance.
* Representing and liaising with other medical and service departments within the hospital and with external hospitals.
* Teaching other doctors, medical students, nurses and paramedical staff.
Person specification
Experience & Qualifications
* Completed at least two years of Foundation training (FY1 and FY2) in a relevant programme.
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
* Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent.
* At least two years’ experience in anaesthetics, including solo obstetric anaesthesia.
* Experience in Simulation.
* Distinctions, scholarships and prizes.

* Experience working in a hospital night team.
