About The Role
Operations Engineer
Exciting opportunities have arisen at Heysham 1 Power Station to join our highly skilled Operations Department. As a Reactor Desk engineer, you will complete a Control Room Training Programme and, upon success, be appointed as a Duly Authorised Person within a shift team, responsible for operating the reactor and associated equipment.
The Central Control Room teams play a fundamental role in ensuring safe, reliable generation. You will identify and escalate plant issues, maintain high standards in communication and human performance, and support safe operations.
Pay, Benefits And Culture
The salary range is between £45,641 to £81,263, with a starting salary within £45,641 - £68,958, depending on experience, competence, and qualifications. An additional shift allowance ranges from £13,365 to £18,884. What You’ll Be Doing
Qualification as a Duly Authorised Person involves an 18–24-month training on our advanced reactor simulator, working day and night shifts. After qualification, you will operate, monitor, and control the nuclear reactor and related equipment, working within a shift team to ensure safe operations.
The shift pattern is 2 days followed by 2 nights over a 10-week cycle, with shifts from 07:30 to 19:30, averaging 37 hours per week.

* Relevant HNC or equivalent; a relevant degree may be advantageous
