Overview
I am a blind lady looking to employ a friendly, sociable, energetic and reliable Personal Assistant to support me to access my local community and enjoy activities and interests. You will be employed directly by me through Direct Payments.
Role purpose
To support me to take part in community activities, interests, and social outings safely and with confidence - contributing to my independence, wellbeing and quality of life.
Main duties / Responsibilities
* Support and accompany me to local walks, the beach, community events, theatres and live music venues.
* Provide safe guiding and assistance outdoors - on busy streets, uneven paths and the countryside.
* Support engagement with my interests in fashion, hair and beauty, and social activities.
* Help plan activities and explore new places and events in the local area.
* Transport me by car; driving is a core part of the role.
* Engage in good conversation and enjoy shared social experiences.

Policies and checks
* This appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check, which will incur no cost to the applicant. If you have an online update DBS you have a great chance of becoming shortlisted for this position as this can help the employer to recruit much quicker. If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided.
* This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
* Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided.
* You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
* You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment.
* You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
* You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
Requirements
* To apply, you must have: A valid driver's licence, access to a vehicle with appropriate business-use insurance (mileage will be compensated by private agreement).
* Previous experience supporting a blind or visually impaired person.
* Confidence with walking and guiding safely.
* Enthusiasm for community activities, socialising and conversation.
* Fluent Welsh language skills (essential for this role).
Desirable Qualities
* Good knowledge of the Lampeter area and local events.
* Interest in the arts, outdoor activities and local culture.
