Our station in Newcastle-under-Lyme requires a qualified and motivated individual to join the operations maintenance team as a Skilled Technician.
Working hours: 40 per week.
The role involves ensuring that all plant and equipment on site are repaired and serviced to recognised standards and as per the preventative maintenance schedule, minimizing downtime of sortation equipment.
The Operations Maintenance Technician role is challenging and requires excellent organisation and communication skills. Responsibilities include:
1. Organising team maintenance and required equipment to ensure safe operation and maintenance of machinery within operational timeframes.
2. Monitoring workflow, identifying potential issues, and taking corrective actions through delegation, personal action, or escalation.
3. Collaborating with Depot and Operations Managers, Section Leaders, and Control Room staff to resolve issues.
4. Ensuring smooth traffic flow across machinery with attention to Health and Safety.
5. Completing all required information recording sheets accurately each night.
6. Adhering to operational and maintenance procedures as detailed in the Group Operations Manual to maintain customer service standards.
7. Returning equipment to designated areas after use and maintaining it in safe, efficient condition, with a reporting system for defective equipment.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organised, hold a City and Guilds Electrical/Mechanical engineering qualification, and possess:
* Knowledge of 16th or 17th Edition electrical regulations
* Proven electrical/mechanical maintenance experience
* Ability to read electrical schematic diagrams
* Understanding of PLC-controlled equipment
* Flexible approach to shift patterns
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation
* Full driving licence
