Job Role: Support Worker
This role primarily involves working in residential settings to provide guidance, support, and encouragement to young people across various environments including classrooms, education, and off-site activities. The job focuses on enabling young people's development through physical and emotional support.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Building positive, professional relationships with young people and staff, and disengaging appropriately.
2. Maintaining a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment, including domestic duties.
3. Promoting and meeting the specific needs of young people following policies and procedures.
4. Assisting with medical and welfare needs, reporting, and record-keeping, including monitoring health conditions.
5. Supporting personal hygiene and, when trained, providing intimate or invasive care.
6. Participating in communication systems, meetings, and acting as a Keyworker or Personal Tutor.
7. Supporting behavior management using approved approaches.
8. Upholding equality, safeguarding against abuse, and challenging discrimination.
9. Completing reports, maintaining records, and contributing to service development or projects.
10. Attending training and achieving relevant qualifications.
11. Participating in learning activities during residential, leisure, or classroom settings.
12. Working reliably, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays, and overtime if needed.
13. Supporting transition processes for young people moving between settings.
14. Keeping up-to-date with policies and disseminating information to team members.
15. If qualified, driving the minibus and ensuring safety.
16. Ensuring health and safety standards are met, understanding hazards, and contributing to a secure environment.
17. Performing additional relevant duties as assigned.
18. Understanding standards and their implementation in care settings.
19. Participating in review meetings, advocating for young people, and planning activities.
20. Leading shifts, debriefing, and providing feedback for team improvement.
21. Promptly reporting matters affecting young people's well-being.
22. Leading shifts and conducting debriefs as required.
Person Specification
Applicants should demonstrate:
* Effective debriefing skills.
* Qualification: Level 3 RQF certificate in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
* Ability to supervise Support Workers and work within a multidisciplinary team including a Registered Manager, Team Manager, and Assistant Team Manager.
