Overview
First for Support are proud to be working alongside our partner in their search for a Registered Manager. The perfect candidate will be responsible for the overall management, development, and delivery of a new residential care service for children and young people with learning disabilities, autism, and/or mental health needs. The role includes ensuring the service operates in full compliance with Ofsted regulations and delivers high standards of person-centred, trauma-informed care that promote safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure that all statutory and regulatory requirements are met, including Ofsted standards and safeguarding legislation.
* Work with senior management to ensure the home meets and exceeds internal KPIs and regulatory expectations.
* Lead the implementation of care models that support children with complex needs, ensuring all practices are person-centred and outcomes focused.
* Conduct regular audits, reviews, and inspections to maintain quality and compliance.
* Recruit, induct, and manage a team of residential support staff, always ensuring appropriate staffing levels and develop staff performance along with extra training and mentoring.
* Ensure robust safeguarding procedures are in place, followed, and reviewed regularly, raising concerns to the appropriate individuals when required
* Ensure the emotional, social, educational, and health needs of each child are met through effective planning and intervention using therapeutic approaches.
* Develop and implement individual care plans in collaboration with social workers, families, and other professionals.
* Build and maintain positive working relationships with families, local authorities, schools, CAMHS, and other external agencies.
Candidate Specification
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and Children and Young People's Services (or working towards) is essential.
* Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Registered Manager in a children’s residential setting.
* In-depth knowledge of Ofsted standards, Children’s Homes Regulations (2015), and safeguarding legislation.
* Proven experience supporting children with learning disabilities, autism, or mental health challenges.
* Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Ability to manage challenging behaviour and complex needs within a trauma-informed framework.
* Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or similar approaches.
* Flexible to work occasional evenings, weekends, and participate in on-call duties if required.
* Full UK driving licence preferred.
