First Military Recruitment is currently seeking a Senior Commercial Officer on behalf of one of our clients.
You will play a pivotal role in supporting the business with all aspects of pre- and post-contract management, primarily for the UK market but also extending to international export markets. Your responsibilities include drafting, negotiating, and managing complex contracts and subcontracts while ensuring full compliance with business governance and regulatory requirements. This role offers an excellent opportunity to expand your expertise and take ownership of a diverse range of commercial activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide day-to-day commercial and/or contract management on major defence contracts, acting as the main point of contact commercially.
* Support the full project lifecycle, including RFI/PQQ, tendering, contract award, change management, performance, and closure.
* Assist the Sales Team in developing commercial input for bids and proposals.
* Negotiate and close contracts.
* Report on commercial opportunities and risks; develop strategies to address them.
* Attend meetings with customers and subcontractors to represent the commercial department.
* Provide guidance on commercial/legal issues and advise on internal governance.
* Ensure business compliance with all laws and regulations.
* Support the Sales Team in all commercial aspects related to its network, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and executing distributor, reseller, and agent agreements.
* Conduct due diligence and sanction screening on all third parties.
* Create, monitor, update, and roll out commercial processes, guidance, and template documents, ensuring adherence.
* Understand UK/US export/import regulations and assist the Trade Compliance Team as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Extensive experience in a commercial/legal/contract management role, preferably in defence or a highly regulated environment.
* Understanding of import/export regulations is desirable but not essential.
* Experience in evaluating, drafting, negotiating, and managing complex contracts.
* Experience contracting with purchasing from highly regulated contractors.
* Experience establishing and managing strategic relationships.
