The Production Engineer will be part of the team that defines the processes and procedures for how products are produced and assembled. The purpose of the role is to provide first-line support and diagnosis for operational issues and aid the growth of the manufacturing and production section of the company, through continuous improvement activities. Responsibilities will include: Work in a team responsible for supporting the production department in producing high-quality products Work with Production Supervisors, Quality, and other Departments to determine and define good working practices and critical processes for delivery of high-quality product. Provide engineering support to operations to verify process capability for all manufacturing areas. Review and highlight production capability-related issues, by identifying problems, examining solutions, and implementing action plans. Identify and mitigate production bottlenecks. Recommend changes to processes based on findings and perform follow-up to verify effectiveness. Participate in the New Product Introduction process to determine the appropriate use of existing and new resources and equipment. Facilitate and promote the use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action, taking a leading role in activities such as PFMEAs Plan and implement shop floor changes /layout improvements. Advise and support the implementation of new and upgrading of existing equipment to improve capacity. In conjunction with Maintenance, lead the installation, commissioning, and acceptance of new equipment. Coordinate the design and build of assembly and process fixturing for use by production. Ensure production operators have appropriate equipment and documentation (Work Instructions or other controlled documentation) to be able to produce parts in a repeatable and controlled manor. Lead assigned Continuous Improvement projects ensuring agreed KPIs are delivered. Support the change request process to ensure that all changes have the appropriate equipment, controls and documentation in place. Experience and Qualifications sought include: Minimum HNC qualification within a Manufacturing / Production environment or Lean Industrial experience Engineering experience in assembly/ Plastics / Automotive/FMCG Environment Experience of low-volume and batch-production environments Good working knowledge of 6 Sigma. Extensive knowledge and experience in the practical application of Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement techniques, including 5s, 7 Wastes, 7 Quality tools, TPM, and Statistical Process Capability. Experience within an assembly environment Knowledge of ISO9001 and process control method Injection moulding experience or knowledge of the plastic industry, Experience of manufacturing equipment used for an injection moulding process. Process evaluation and improvement, including leading PFMEAs Project management of changes to the Production Process Control and issue of standard operating procedures Specification and evaluation of new equipment Design of jigs & fixtures to enable cost-effective and efficient manufacturing processes. Knowledge and experience of Solidworks 3D CAD software beneficial Capable of producing working drawings to support fixture design and manufacture.
