Our client is a well-established marine engineering company based on the South Coast, providing maintenance, repair, and refit services for a range of small to medium vessels, from commercial craft and tugs to leisure boats and survey vessels.
They’re now seeking a Marine Engineer / Mechanical Fitter to join their skilled workshop and mobile service team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys varied, practical engineering work and takes pride in getting vessels back to sea in top condition.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out servicing, repairs, and installations on inboard and outboard engines (Volvo Penta, Yanmar, Caterpillar, Cummins, etc.)
Diagnose faults on mechanical, hydraulic, and fuel systems
Undertake planned maintenance and emergency repairs at the yard and on-site at local marinas
Support vessel refit projects and occasional sea trials
Work independently and as part of a small, close-knit engineering team
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Marine Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, or similar mechanical trade background
Knowledge of marine propulsion and auxiliary systems
Full UK driving licence
Positive, professional attitude and pride in workmanship
