Principal Software Engineer

With mobilisation underway, we’re assembling a lean, elite engineering team to architect and deliver a secure, scalable, multi-cloud banking platform using modern technologies.
This is a career-defining role for a polyglot engineer with deep expertise in Rust and Python, and a passion for building robust systems in highly regulated environments.
What You’ll Do
* Design and build core banking services and infrastructure using Rust, Python, and other modern languages.
* Develop secure, scalable systems across AWS and GCP, leveraging best practices in cloud-native architecture.
* Collaborate with product, platform, and security teams to ensure compliance with JFC and international regulatory standards.
* Contribute to platform development, including cloud security, observability, and performance optimisation.
* Work autonomously in a high-trust, remote-first environment with minimal oversight.
* Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making.
You'll have the following:
* Extensive experience in Rust and Python in production environments.
* Proven track record of building and deploying systems in multi-cloud environments (AWS & GCP).
* Strong understanding of cloud security, infrastructure as code, and platform engineering.
* Comfortable working in regulated industries, ideally financial services or fintech.
* Self-starter mindset, able to thrive in ambiguity and take ownership of complex problems.
* No formal leadership experience required, but must be confident collaborating across disciplines and mentoring peers informally.

* Experience with banking platforms, payments, or financial data systems.
* Familiarity with Rust async ecosystem, Kubernetes, Terraform, or Pulumi.
* Exposure FCA or JFSC or similar regulatory bodies.
