Job Description:
CONSULTANT PSYCHIATRIST IN OLD AGE PSYCHIATRY based at Stratheden Hospital Cupar – Split In-patient and Community Mental Health Service (1 post). Permanent appointment – Full time (10 PAs).
This is an exciting opportunity for a committed clinician to join our dedicated team within NHS Fife working in old age psychiatry, split between community and in-patient services covering West Fife. This is a full-time post (10 sessions) with close collaboration with older adult mental health colleagues across NHS Fife.
You must be able to work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies. While this is a full-time position, flexible working arrangements will be considered.
You will be supported by a cohesive group of clinicians and will participate in CPD and peer supervision. Regular consultant peer group meetings and educational events are part of our in-house programme.
We are committed to service improvement and seek an enthusiastic, dynamic, and committed individual to lead and manage change. A focus will be on developing the non-medical workforce, given staffing challenges across the UK. An interest in supporting the professional development of multidisciplinary team colleagues is highly valued.
We welcome discussions regarding job descriptions to ensure roles align with your interests, experience, and talents. Please inquire about alternative working arrangements. Our goal is to ensure the right person is doing the right things at the right time to provide high-quality care to the older population of Fife.
Applicants must be fully registered medical practitioners with MRCPsych or equivalent, with an appropriate CCT (or be eligible within 6 months of the interview). Support for those pursuing specialist registration through the CESR process is available.
Interviews will be held on Tuesday, 29th July 2025.
This post may be eligible for Tier 2 sponsorship if required.
NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all employees are entitled to work in the UK. If you are not a UK or Irish national, please confirm your right to work in your application. NHS Scotland is committed to equality and diversity, aiming for a workforce that is representative and respectful. We welcome applications from all sections of society.
We offer flexible working, family-friendly policies, and support for disabled candidates, those with long-term conditions, or neurodivergent individuals through reasonable adjustments in our recruitment practices.
