Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the Speech and Language Therapy service based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn. The position will enable you to develop skills in the assessment and management of acquired communication difficulties and acute dysphagia with a range of conditions within supportive and friendly teams. The job will be split between the stroke and non‑stroke acute services.
As a member of the acute medical SLT and Stroke SLT teams at QEH, you will provide assessment and therapy support for patients with acquired communication and/or swallowing impairments, work as part of the MDTs within the hospital and develop and maintain links with local community teams.
Responsibilities
* Provide Speech and Language Therapy assessment, differential diagnosis and treatment for adults with acquired communication disorders across acute wards and stroke services at QEH.
* Provide dysphagia therapy for patients across acute wards and stroke services under the supervision of specialist speech and language therapists, and develop skills in assessing dysphagia.
* Ensure a multi‑professional approach in the implementation of patient care across acute wards and all stroke services.
Qualifications
* Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist (newly qualified)
* Support will be provided to develop both NQP and dysphagia competencies.
