Main Function (Assistant Buyer)
To provide support for Miller Homes Limited Commercial Department and assist with the procurement of material and plant, under supervision of the Commercial Director & Buyer.
Key Functional Areas (Assistant Buyer)
* Comply with policies and procedures and Divisional procurement implementation plans
* Take off and preparing material schedules
* Expediting materials ordered as required
* Managing plant
* Processing requisition orders
* Bulk order information entry
* Material budget entry
* Material tender enquiries
* Maintenance of documentation library
* Day to day consumables for site
* General office duties for the Commercial team
* Resolving invoice queries in a timely manner ensuring, as far as possible, suppliers are paid in accordance with agreed trading terms
* Collation of monthly plant hire data and communication of information to relevant Site Managers
Key Capabilities Required
(1) Skills, Capabilities and attributes
* Basic knowledge of construction practice and materials commonly used in the House Building / Construction Industry
* Basic understanding of the tender process including awareness of market place dynamics and external influences on pricing and compatibility
* Arithmetical competency is a key requirement in this role.
* Computer competency specifically in relation to MS Word and Excel
* Communication skills
* Aptitude to negotiate pricing where applicable
* Ability to analyse quotations, under the supervision of the Buyer / Senior Buyer, with particular attention being paid to price and specification.
