The Guardians Group is looking for an experienced, diligent and highly motivated Bookkeeper to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes real ownership, has excellent Xero skills (including reporting), and wants to deepen their financial and commercial knowledge by working closely with our Finance Team and wider company.
This role will set a stable foundation on which to build your experience and knowledge in a commercial environment.
The role
You’ll be assisting the smooth day-to-day running of our finance function, including:
* Maintaining accurate purchase and sales ledgers
* Bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
* Preparing and posting journals (accruals, prepayments etc.)
* Managing supplier payments and customer receipts
* Closely managing and chasing debtors to agreed targets
* Assisting with VAT returns and other statutory filings
* Producing Xero-based reports and supporting monthly management accounts
* Helping to improve financial processes, controls and reporting
You’ll work directly with the Finance Team to:
* Support budgeting, forecasting and cashflow analysis
* Develop and refine weekly and monthly financial/commercial reports
About you
You are:
* Experienced in a similar bookkeeping/assistant accountant role
* Diligent and responsible. You take pride in accuracy and meeting deadlines
* Highly motivated. You are proactive, organised and happy to take ownership
* Technically strong in Xero, using it confidently for day to day reporting
* A good communicator who enjoys working as part of a small, focused team
* Aligned to our company values
