The role
As a Network Management System Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will support the Skyview Network Management System supporting the developing of satellite communications services to the UK MOD.
Day-to-day, you’ll support the current system and it’s extension to the new services and network elements, and the implementation of new capability as well as:
1. Specification, development and implementation of network management system support to new service solutions
2. Evaluation, specification and implementation of new network management capability on the system
3. Support to the system in the resolution of faults and performance issues
4. Providing specialist 24/7 on-call network support on a rotation basis within a team
5. Supporting the delivery of the password management policy on the service delivering networks
6. Implementation of firmware and software patches on the network elements in accordance with the patch management policy
This position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role.
This role is full time, 37-hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with three days in the office/onsite and two days working from home.
Essential experience of the Network Management System Engineer
7. Demonstrable experience in network management technologies
8. Ability to design and build new hardware and software systems
9. Proficient in use of Linux
10. Ability to configure IBM Tivoli suite modules. (Netcool Omnibus, Netcool Omnibus Probes, Tivoli Integrated Portal, Tivoli Network Manager)
11. Good report writing and general communication skills
Qualifications for the Network Management System Engineer
12. Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
13. IT / Engineering qualification
14. Windows Server

16. Linux/UNIX
