Salary amounts quoted are from the 1 September to 31 August and therefore if you commence employment part way through the academic year they are subject to an equated salary adjustment.

Working Type: Full Time [37 hours / 39weeks]

Base: The Ferns Primary Academy, Plodder Lane, Farnworth, Bolton, BL4 0DA

Please note: the post holder will be engaging in regulated activity, working mainly or wholly with children. This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.

Northern Education Trust (NET) is a charitable education Trust with a good track record for school improvement. The Trust sponsors 30 academies; 17 secondary and 13 primaries across the North of England in fourteen Local Authority regions.

The Ferns Primary Academy are seeking a friendly, organised and efficient Administrator to join the vibrant school office team.

Key responsibilities will include:

Serve as the first point of contact at the school’s front office, providing a warm welcome to visitors, parents, and pupils.

Support the day-to-day administrative functions of the school, including managing phone calls, emails and records.

Maintain pupil records and update school databases (attendance, medical information) with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.

Assist with the preparation and distribution of school communications, newsletters and event notices.

Process incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.

Support the organisation of school events, trips and parent meetings.

Provide general administrative support including photocopying, filing, stock control and ordering supplies.

Assist the Office Manager with a range of administrative tasks, record keeping, and compliance with school policies and procedures.

Liaise with staff, parents and external agencies as required to support the smooth running of the school office.

Assist with first aid duties/administration of medication (training will be provided).

Ensure a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

The ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience in an administrative role.

Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - with a friendly and professional manner.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.

Confidence in using IT systems including Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn school-specific software (BromCom, ParentPay).

A friendly, positive attitude with the ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment.

High standards of accuracy and attention to detail.

A flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to work independently, and as part of a team.

A willingness to undertake training and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
