You will be joining a well-established and highly respected civil engineering contractor based in Coventry, recognised for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across the UK. Working on critical schemes within multiple heavy civils sectors, this contractor has built a strong reputation for technical excellence, innovation and safe delivery in challenging ground conditions. With a strong order book and a clear growth strategy, they are actively seeking a Seniormercial Manager to take overall responsibility for leading and developing theirmercial function.
This is a full-time permanent position based out of their Coventry office.
Your new role
As Seniormercial Manager, you will provide strategic leadership across themercial team, taking ownership of allmercial, contractual and financial aspects of the business’s project portfolio. Sitting at senior management level, this role will be pivotal in protecting margin, managing risk and supporting sustainable growth across heavy civils projects.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Leading, mentoring and developing themercial team
2. Fullmercialernance across multiple heavy civils projects
3. Oversight of NEC and bespoke contracts, including change control and claims strategy
4. Managing client relationships at senior level and leadingmercial negotiations
5. Driving accurate forecasting, CVRs and cashflow management
6. Supporting the Managing Director with business strategy andmercial decision-making
7. Ensuring robustmercial processes, controls and reporting are embedded across the business.
This is a senior leadership role offering real influence over how projects are priced, managed and delivered.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you will bring:
8. Proven experience as a Seniormercial Manager ormercial Manager within heavy civils orplex infrastructure
9. Expert knowledge of NEC contracts andmercial best practice
10. Demonstrated experience leading and developingmercial teams
11. Excellentmercial judgment and risk management capability
12. Strong stakeholder management skills, including client-facing negotiations
13. Full UK driving licence.
