Salary: £36,630 rising to £40,893 per annum + Excellent Benefits including Government Pension - The above salary is based on a full time (37 hour) salary. If you are successful in a part time role this will be pro-rata'd to reflect your working hours.
Location: Hybrid Working/Based within SW region and base to be agreed depending on location of successful candidate
Hours per week: This role is 18.5 hours per week.
About the role:
The South West Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) & Casualty Bureau (CB) Services are part of a collaboration which consists of five police forces in the region (Avon & Somerset, Devon & Cornwall, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire police) together with the Channel Islands (States of Jersey & States of Guernsey).
The collaboration is responsible for ensuring that the service complies with the National Policing requirement for the DVI & CB aspect of Civil Contingencies and that our regional capabilities provide efficient, effective and proportionate response to local, regional and national threats.
An opportunity has arisen for a DVI Trainer to join the SW DVI & CB Collaboration team.
Reporting to the SW Regional DVI & CB Coordinator you will be part of the core collaboration team responsible for delivering specialist DVI training at different locations across the region, with other approved DVI trainers, ensuring that the SW DVI Cadre are trained and exercised to nationally recognised standards and provided with appropriate CPD.
The nationally approved DVI training packages that we deliver are products licensed by College of Policing and the license stipulates that all DVI trainers must meet (as a minimum) the Police sector standards for Training of Instructors (Level 3 Award). The College of Policing training Essentials Programme (TEP) is fully aligned to the Police Sector standards and is one of the routes in which the standards can be met.
As this role will require the postholder to have Lead Trainer status and regional oversight of DVIF training then the successful applicant should meet the Police Sector standard for the Training of Trainers (Level 4 Award) or be willing to undertake this qualification.
In addition to the training qualification, applicants will also be required to have met the following criteria which is required by College of Policing:
* Completion of a DVI Foundation Course.
* Have both Operational experience and sound knowledge of DVI Process and a sound understanding of multi - agency Joint Emergency Service Interoperability Principles.
* Complete the Emergency Procedures Training programme (available via College Learn).
Where necessary the post holder will also be expected to undertake additional courses or training considered appropriate for them to become effective in their role.
This is a hybrid role. The postholder will be required to work from different locations both regionally and on occasion nationally but with some flexibility to work from home.
The role is offered on a part-time contract of 18.5 hours per week.
