3493 - Deputy Medical Imaging Manager/Deputy Lead Radiographer
This post is a 12-month fixed-term/secondment opportunity
As the Deputy Medical Imaging Manager, you will work with the Medical Imaging Manager to provide operational support for the delivery of imaging services on the Barnsley Hospital site and at the new flagship Community Diagnostic Centre within The Glass Works retail complex.
Services on site include Plain Film (including theatre, mobiles, and dental), CT, MRI, Breast Imaging (both screening and symptomatic), Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and Fluoroscopy (including cardiac angiography). All services are supported by a Modality Lead with whom the post holder will liaise to ensure effective service delivery aligned with local and national KPIs.
Services at the CDC include Plain Film, DEXA, Ultrasound, Breast Screening, and Phlebotomy. Phase 2 will include CT and MRI alongside other non-imaging services. With further expansion over three years, there is an opportunity to collaborate with regional colleagues to deliver a system-wide approach to imaging services. Main duties of the job
In conjunction with the Service Manager, responsible for the operational delivery of the imaging service, including staff deployment, coordination, and supervision of clinical and technical aspects, ensuring safe, effective, and efficient patient care.
Provide senior leadership alongside and in the absence of the Service Manager for Imaging, operating based on delegated authority as needed.
Work with the Service Manager to ensure high-quality patient care, meet key performance targets, manage budgets, and achieve CIP targets.
Support planning, development, coordination, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of the Medical Imaging service across clinical areas.
Foster a safety-focused culture across professional boundaries, promoting staff involvement and patient-centred care. Enable colleagues to deliver high standards of service.
Undertake clinical practice within your specialism (approximately 25% of contracted hours), including direct patient contact, staff training, and supervision. Participate in extended working hours as required.

Qualifications
