Senior Administrator – University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust


Job Summary

This role supports the Oncology service, providing administrative support across Medical Oncology, Clinical Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care departments.


Responsibilities

* Provide comprehensive administrative service within the team.
* Coordinate and streamline administrative processes for consistent service.
* Ensure a high standard of service using tact, discretion and sensitivity.
* Promote UHS Trust values and provide excellent customer service to colleagues, patients, relatives, and external agencies.


Essential Qualifications

* Good standard of secondary education with literacy and numeracy (GSCE pass or equivalent).
* Level 3 qualification in administration/customer service or equivalent experience.
* Experience as an administrator or secretary in a customer‑focused environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Knowledge and experience of secretarial or administrative procedures.
* Ability to use judgement to solve non-routine problems and enquiries.
* RSA Level 2 or 3 (type of word‑processing/typing certification).


Desirable Qualifications

* Courses or further study demonstrating personal development.
* Diploma or equivalent qualification.
* Proficient use of hospital computerised patient systems.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
