Information Analyst (Band 5) – Shared EPR
The Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is excited to offer an opportunity for an ambitious individual to join our Data and Informatics team as an Information Analyst on a Fixed Term Contract to support the implementation of the new Shared EPR system across the BSW Hospital Group.
We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking individual to work closely with the Senior Information Analysts and key stakeholders at all levels to deliver high quality reporting and analytics to support decision making and improve patient care across the Trust.
The skill mix we are looking for includes data analysis, statistics, Excel and SQL, proficiency with business intelligence tools (preferably Power BI), knowledge of health datasets and an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Shaping the data the Trust holds into actionable intelligence that can be utilised by those that need it, when it is required, will be critical to this role.
To be successful in this role you will have a real eye for detail, an analytical mind-set, excellent communication skills and a willingness to adapt your approach with our stakeholders and interpret requirements with the enthusiasm to get the job done to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
1. Understand and interpret highly complex information and analytical requirements, assess the purpose for which outputs are required and support, develop and deliver appropriate solutions using various information query tools and languages.
2. Maintain and develop understanding of the range of sources of data both within and outside the organisation.
3. Analyse data for a wide range of clients, determining the best form for communicating/presenting the information, from simple to highly complex and ensuring that the presentation is relevant, comprehensible and conforms to agreed timescales with the client.
4. Contribute to the review, planning, development and implementation of new information systems to meet user requirements.
5. Develop, maintain and utilise in depth specialist knowledge of statistical and analytical tools and techniques including being the Trust lead in certain tools.
6. Develop, maintain and utilise an understanding of NHS datasets and the use of information across the NHS.
7. Develop, maintain and utilise knowledge of existing NHS and health performance, measurement and reporting frameworks e.g. CQC Intelligent Monitoring.
8. Develop, maintain and utilise knowledge of local and national developments in relation to health information and systems and act as an initial point of contact/expertise for all issues within certain domains.
9. Lead on specific work activities as required including creating and managing projects and directing others as appropriate including more junior staff.
10. Undertake benchmarking analyses so as to support continuing improvement in the efficiency of clinical services.
11. Proactively improve methods of data extraction, manipulation, analysis and presentation, developing new and existing systems and evaluating alternative options.
12. Proactively identify opportunities to utilise statistical and analytical techniques to analyse and interpret data and provide useful information to support decision making.
13. Support projects and teams in establishing manual data collection where required.
