Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly autonomous and experienced Sonographer, who is practicing at the top of their licence and can evidence of the four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice, to join our diverse team as General Specialist Practitioner Sonographer.
The successful candidate will be based at the Royal London Hospital with cross‑site rotation to St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Mile End Hospital’s Community Diagnostic Centre and Early Diagnosis Centre. The role will support a 7‑day service with compressed hours and weekend working.
Role Details
• 80% Direct Clinical Contact (DCC) – including supervision, training and attendance at multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
• 20% Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) – quality improvement, audit, research, clinical leadership and teaching/educational activities.
• 150 hours per month – compressed hours over 4 weekdays with some weekend work.
With experience in scanning complex referrals from a range of referral sources across elective, urgent and emergency care pathways (Fast response, SDEC and AAU), the post holder will improve patient outcomes by reducing waiting times to meet National targets, DM01 and Faster Diagnostic Service (FDS) standards, and lead quality improvement and audit/research projects.

Qualifications & Competencies
• Statutory registration with a UK regulatory body.
• A Consortium for the Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE) accredited post‑graduate (Level 7) award in ultrasound.
• Evidence of the four pillars of advanced practice and core capabilities, including specialty‑specific clinical competencies.
Salary & Benefits
£5K RRP per year, subject to approval.
