This role requires the successful candidate to travel throughout the county for visits, working flexibly to meet family's needs.
Regular attendance at your base location will also be necessary for 5 days per week. Final arrangements will be confirmed with the successful candidate.
You will need to be able to travel independently around the county and will have access to a supplied van, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes are available.
About the Job
As a Property Maintenance Officer, you will apply your facilities and building expertise along with strong customer service skills to our dedicated team. This diverse role involves closely collaborating with the Property Preparation Officer to ensure resettled families from conflict-affected countries receive safe and comfortable homes that meet their needs.
Your contributions will include key tasks related to property preparation, such as assembling and transporting furniture, painting, decorating, maintaining gardens, and potentially repairing household items, all vital for creating a welcoming environment for those in need.- Prepare properties for occupancy in advance of refugee family arrivals.
There are several key responsibilities that are expected to be integral to this role, including:
1. Coordinating the completion of properties with arrival of families, working and liaising with the Resettlement Coordinator.
2. Tracking and maintaining properties in active tenancies and sustain excellent relations with tenants.
3. Liaising with other parties including landlords, partner organisations, and vendors.
4. Ensuring all deliveries of items have been accounted for per the inventory.
5. Purchasing one-off items from local suppliers to complete the property preparation when required.
6. Tracking and reporting progress and updates on property preparation and maintenance.
7. Using a variety of tools to put furniture together where needed.
8. Ensuring all necessary paperwork is documented and user instructions provided to caseworkers/families.
Required Skills and Experience
9. NVQ in a building services related discipline, or related qualification or experience demonstrating the same level of applied knowledge in practical building / DIY.
10. Analyse problems and implement practical solutions.
11. Experience of maintaining accurate financial records, maintenance requests, and the purchasing of inventory for property preparation associated tasks.
12. Liaising with potential vendors for property preparation associated tasks, i.e. installation of carpets and/or kitchen appliances (for social rental properties).
13. Building credible working relationships with partners and volunteers and to ensure high levels of commitment though well executed incentivisation.
14. Prioritising work, coordinating a variety of tasks in a clear and logical way to meet agreed deadlines and essential activities.
15. Experience of working with a range of software packages with good keyboard skills e.g. Word, Excel, databases etc. Training can be provided.
16. Full current UK driving licence.
