Role
provides technical bridge between IT developers and the Business, contributing a blend of business and accounting knowledge, and a strong understanding of system data flows, data structures and other analytical skills.
1. Support Finance and the wider Bank in its ad-hoc reporting and analysis needs through training, technical guidance, data analysis and process optimisation / automation / elimination.
Accountabilities:
2. Provide technical accounting interpretation and analysis including financial modelling and reconciliation.
3. Interpret and document business requirements, translating these into clear, actionable deliverables. This includes activities such as gap analysis, data interpretation, determining available solutions and their pros / cons and proposing efficient and effective action to take to meet business reporting objectives.
4. Ensure core deliverables are produced on time and to spec by monitoring development progress, providing guidance and technical oversight and in preparing, executing, and signing off UAT.
5. Support line management in accumulation and production of business transformation project documentation and status updates.
6. Deliver innovation and efficiencies across the Bank through business process reengineering (BPR), automation, process/reporting simplification and proactive identification of opportunities to enhance reporting capabilities.
7. Ensure Bank Policy relating to the preparation of External or Material reporting is adhered to by monitoring planned developments and reviewing sign-off documentation as part of the change management process.
8. Manage and lead key user forum and developer progress meetings, preparing and issuing relevant meeting materials to participants.
9. Prepare and / or perform and / or review user acceptance testing scripts to appraise system change as required within the change timelines communicated.
10. Manage expectation through effective and timely communication both within the team and to the stakeholders which we serve.
Knowledge/Skills:
11. Qualified accountant familiar with IFRS reporting standards: knowledge of other GAAPs utilised in the region (French, German, Japanese) would be advantageous but not required.
12. Relevant technical degree-level education with a preference toward accounting and financial disciplines.
13. Being qualified / part qualified accountant is advantageous.
14. Experience in Finance transformation/ change programmes in Commercial and Investment Banking is highly desirable.
15. Experience in conducting workshops with junior through to senior stakeholders to gather business requirements.
16. Extensive experience leading and working on data-related projects: Project Management qualifications would be advantageous.
17. Strong numerical and financial skills with the ability to interpret financial information and to design and use financial models.
18. Prior experience performing Finance-based UAT for new products onboarding process highly desirable.
