Description of what the apprentice will do in their role:
We are looking for a motivated Apprentice Floorlayer to join our team in August this year and train in textile and resilient flooring installation. This apprenticeship will provide hands-on experience and expert training in laying a variety of flooring materials, including carpets and vinyl. You will work alongside experienced floor layers, learning how to prepare surfaces, measure and cut materials, and install high-quality flooring in commercial, industrial, and residential settings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist with preparing subfloors, including cleaning, levelling, and applying adhesives.
* Learn to measure, cut, and fit flooring materials such as carpets, vinyl, and rubber.
* Install underlays, trims, and finishes to achieve a high-quality result.
* Work safely with hand tools and cutting equipment.
* Follow site safety regulations and maintain a clean workspace.
* Develop knowledge of different flooring materials and their applications.
* Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
* Attend college/training sessions as required to complete your apprenticeship standard.
Skills & Requirements:
* A keen interest in flooring and practical, hands-on work.
* Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
* Basic mathematical skills for measuring and cutting materials.
* Ability to follow instructions and work independently and as part of a team.
* Physical fitness and ability to carry materials and work on your feet.
* A positive attitude and commitment to completing the apprenticeship.
* Outstanding communication skills both with colleagues and customers
* Excellent attendance and timekeeping.
* A driving license (or willingness to learn) is beneficial but not essential.
Comprehensive Apprentice Floorlayer Training:
During your Standard Level 2 Floor layer apprenticeship programme you will receive training both off and on the job. You will be trained at the employer within the workplace and also at FITA Training centre in Loughborough on a block release basis for a week at a time every 10 weeks, costs are covered by the employer.
You will learn the underpinning knowledge that runs alongside your practical elements of the training. WEBS Training aim to build on the skills you already have so you reach your full potential both personally and professionally.
Training will be provided in all areas of floor laying to ensure you can create professional and quality installations using both textile and resilient floor coverings in various settings
If you have already achieved GCSE maths and English at Grade 4/C or above or have equivalent qualification you will be exempt from undertaking Functional Skills, however English and maths support will be provided for all apprentices throughout the length of their programme.

No experience is needed – full training will be provided through your apprenticeship provider and day-to-day support from the team.
