The global energy system is expanding even as it transforms. Demand is rising, technologies are evolving rapidly, and geopolitical tensions are reshaping how energy decisions are made.
In this environment, leaders must constantly balance energy security, affordability and environmental sustainability - navigating trade-offs that are increasingly visible across countries and sectors.
For more than a century, World Energy Council has brought together leaders from across governments, industry and society to make sense of these shifts and learn from one another. Through our global network of leaders across nearly 100 countries, we create trusted space for dialogue, insight and collaboration.
We are now seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Energy Insights Lead to help guide these conversations and translate emerging signals into clear insight for global energy leaders.
If you thrive on connecting ideas, synthesising complexity, and shaping strategic conversations, this role offers a rare platform to influence the global energy agenda.
The Role
As Senior Energy Insights Lead, you will play a central role in evolving the Council’s insights approach, moving from traditional studies to a more agile, dialogue-driven model of insight generation. The role brings together inputs from leadership dialogues, surveys, scenario work, and external developments to generate meaningful insight, turning them into clear, timely outputs for senior audiences.
As a senior member of the Insights team, the role leads a small team, sets priorities, and maintains quality across a steady pipeline of briefs, dialogue summaries, and thought-leadership materials aligned with the Council’s existing frameworks.
Working closely with colleagues across Insights, Data, and Communications, you will ensure analysis is rigorous, narratives are clear, and outputs remain highly relevant to CEOs, Ministers, and global stakeholders.

What You’ll Deliver
* A regular flow of concise insight briefs and summaries that synthesise inputs from Issues Monitor, scenario work, horizon scanning, and leadership dialogues into clear, decision-relevant content.
* A coordinated portfolio of insights outputs – briefs, blogs, speeches, op-eds, and dialogue summaries – delivered at pace while maintaining high editorial standards and consistency.
* Leadership dialogues and convenings supported through effective preparation, structured facilitation (where appropriate), and timely post-dialogue synthesis that feeds directly into the insights pipeline.
* Improved speed, clarity, and consistency across insight outputs.
* Clear prioritisation and predictable delivery across the insights pipeline, with reduced senior-level integration bottlenecks.
About You
We’re looking for a strategic thinker and credible communicator with deep curiosity about global energy developments and a strong ability to synthesise complex information into clear insights.
* Demonstrated experience in energy systems, policy, or markets.
* A background in corporate strategy, policy advisory, energy systems analysis, executive communications/journalism or related fields, ideally with exposure to international or cross-regional context.
* Proven experience producing high-impact insight outputs such as briefs, blogs, speeches, and thought-leadership pieces for senior audiences.
* Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt tone and format for different audiences.
* A confident facilitator, with experience designing and delivering senior leadership discussions or dialogues and translating outcomes into actionable insights.
* Experience managing or mentoring colleagues and developing team capability in strategic synthesis, storytelling, and leadership communications.
